6 months already!! - Naperville Family Photographer

This is what its all about... I had the pleasure of snuggling Henry for his newborn pictures... and in the blink of an eye he is a chunky 6 month old with an adorable mohawk.  Whats not to love.

And just like his newborn session the entire family was able to get involved for the 6 month milestone; because in the end its all about the family and how life has grown and blossomed!!

Baby Crazy in Chicago

What better way to beat the cold than snuggling newborns!?!  This Chicago winter has been cold, snowy and full of adorable little bundles!  These three families all have new members, but are at very different stages in their lives.  We have a first born, a new big sister, and 6 kids become 7... Check out a few of my favorites.

Emerson Creek day 2!

September benefited from much better weather than we are seeing in October! I am thankful that I was able to get in so many wonderful sessions!!  Check us out on Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/juliannegreenphotography/

When photographers go to dinner...

What happens when a bunch of photographers decide to go for dinner?  We stop and take pictures of each other before hand, of course!  Lucky to have such beautiful and talented friends, inside and out.

Check to these "Baby" blues!

This family has the most intense blue eyes I have ever seen, and they have grown by a 1.  I never get over spending time with a family in their home, while they are getting used to their new normal. Big brother was such a trooper as the crazy of a new baby has entered the home and even took time to read his new brother a book.

Making Time

Making time for family photos, in particular extended family photos, can seem like a daunting task.  Our lives get so busy.  And as the kids grow old, go off to school, move away and start their own families it can seem even more so.

Then comes along one of those all too rare moments where everyone is in town at the same time... you jam as much in as possible that it doesn't seem another activity can fit... but let me suggest trying to sneak an extended family session.  Its a great way to treasure those moments together, and it doesn't need to be the overwhelming commitment that it might seem.

This extended family came from 3 different states, one couple was leaving for the airport directly from the shoot and yet, they were able to get in a quick 1 hour shoot and be on their way.  Now they have these precious images to remember the time together.  Check it out!

The gift that keeps on giving!

This session was a present to Mom!  As we near the holidays this is something you might consider for your own mother or grandmother.  It is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Not only do you spend a morning together enjoying each others company and making mom/grandma oh so very happy, but you are creating new memories.  At the end of this special experience, you will take these moments with you forever, both figuratively and literally.

Check out a couple of my favorites from a recent "gift."

Sunset!

You will here me say time and time again!  Opt for the golden hour session.  It can be difficult with bed times, I understand, but if you can swing it... its well worth it!  Check out these beauties.

Lifestyle newborn sessions

I say, time and time again, lifestyle newborn shoots are where its at!  I love the idea of a newly formed family coming home, and having those moments forever captured.  Here is an example of a beautiful family finding their new normal!

Cherished Heirlooms

I am in love with the jewel tones in this beautiful sari, which was worn at their firsts' baby shower, and woven through the children pictures!

So big!

The absolute best thing about working with families is seeing them grow.  I had the pleasure of taking pictures of this family when they were only three with 1 on the way; I held this baby girl as a newborn and had the great honor of taking some of her very first pictures in this world, and now she is a smily 6 month old, and oh so big!  It is such an honor to be a part of peoples lives.

Spring has sprung!

I can't not get enough of these kiddos.  I have the pleasure of taking pics of them a few times a year and every shoot gets better than the next.  AND BONUS, things are popping in the chicagoland area!  XOXO.

These are the moments!

I love how families an ever changing, living thing.  One of the best parts of my job is helping tell your stories... you are the narrator, I get to be your pencil.   As your families grow and evolve I love seeing how each chapter unfolds.

2 + 1 in the oven!

Mothers-to-be always have the most beautiful glow... and this one literally beams!

Flanked by big sis and big brother; momma is surrounded by love.  I can't wait to get my hands on baby C in just a couple weeks.

Baby toes!

There is nothing much better than holding a 5 day old.  As many of you know I have 4 year old twins, and its a distant memory, the cooing noises and snorts, the peach fuzz, the smells that are newborns, all seem so long ago.  So I can't tell you enough how much enjoyment I get out of holding a newborn for a couple hours to both awe at how amazing life is, but also reminisce a little.

The times I spent with Family M has to be one of my favorite shoots of all time... just see for yourself.  PS get ready to say awwwww, a lot!  Enjoy.

Winter?

This winter ceases to amaze me.  December, which typically is pretty moderate, was full of snow and frigid days, little did I know, I would be shooting in February outside, enjoying the parks and playgrounds!

Needless to say, I have been kept on my toes to find locations that will accommodate this yoyo weather!

In December, I had the pleasure of shooting in the beautiful town of Long Grove, more specifically, the gracious owners of Scout and Forge, Matt and Meg, welcomed us in from the cold, to shoot in their stunning space.  Scout and Forge is filled with the most unique compilation of antique and repurposed furniture.  If you haven't been to Long Grove, I highly recommend a visit to this idyllic town, and be sure to stop in and say "Hi" to Matt and Meg!  https://scoutandforge.com/shop

And just last week, I had planned to do a shoot indoors at greenhouse in Elmhurst, but February blessed me with sun and 50s?!?! we were able to take full advantage of the beautiful grounds.

Check out these two shoots, both winter, two very different settings.  Thanks again to Matt & Meg.  You guys are the best.

6 months!

6 months is such a sweet spot!  Your baby is filling out, sitting up (even if only for a few seconds at a time), smiles all the time and has those infection laughing spells.  Ohhh how I love this age.  If you waited on a newborn shoot and feel like its too late, I highly recommend considering a 6 month shoot... Its such a great age for a stress-free family session and is be sure to bring the smiles.

Check out this beautiful family enjoying time with their home with the newest addition!  SWOON!

1st Birthday Fun!

Your baby has turned 1! Hoorah, you survived the first year.  I vividly remember when my twins turned 1, I felt like, wow, we survived.  We threw a big party, that I am pretty sure was for us and not them. But heck, they were happy and healthy, we were starting to sleep again.  All good reasons to celebrate.

Another way many people celebrate this accomplishment is with a milestone shoot.

As I learn from my clients, and grow as a photographer, I have developed a strong preference for lifestyle / documentary style shoots.  Shooting in your home, in your kitchen, in the bed you sleep in... Your life, through my lens.

I think about you looking back at the pictures when you're children are grown and as you look at these images, I feel the emotions that will flood back.  Pictures taken in your kitchen where you cooked meal after meal, pictures of the kids jumping on that couch you picked when you first purchased your home, that probably had 1 too many baby stains on it, or the whole family snuggled up on your bed, that very bed where maybe it all began.

What better backdrop, than the home that you have created and will remember year after year.
